Would you like to get involved with celebrations in Dickens Heath to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee?
Next year The Queen celebrates 60 years on the throne and we’ve all (well nearly all of us) got an extra day off to party with Her Maj creating a long bank holiday from the 2nd-5th June!
There’s a growing band of volunteers, supported by the Parish Council and including the PTFA, church and enthusiastic residents, coming together to plan a whole host of events in dh. A massive street party all the way from the green to waterside, along the High Street perhaps? A welcome return for the picnic on the green? a canal boat parade past waterside?
No decisions yet on whether it will be one big events or a whole week of festivities, but the planning needs to get under way soon so that we can secure funding, put plans in place, get all the relevant road closure permissions, hire the bouncy castles, decorate the streets and make sure the whole village knows what’s going on (exhausted just thinking about it!).
And do do all this in style we need volunteers! Do you fancy getting involved in the planning and organising – or even just helping out on the day? If you do please email Helen Marczak (click on her name) at the Parish Council who is gathering a list of willing volunteers.
There’ also a new Jubilee discussion thread in General Chat in the forums if you have ideas you’d like to contribute.
