The village website is one years old today!
Dickens Heath dot Net was launched on 21st September 2011, inspired by the brilliant fundraising activities of the Dickens Heath teenagers in memory of their friend Blake Melbourne. The website started as a conviction by the two of us that this village had a strong community but lacked a focal point, online, to bring us all together and share information.
In the last year the website has had almost 36,000 visits by around 11,000 different people. Villagers, people thinking about moving here, people who’ve moved on but want to stay in touch, customers for village businesses, journalists…and many more.
Our biggest and best day being the Jubilee event in June when everyone logged on to watch the village on BBC TV News and browse photos of themselves dancing in the rain! We had over 1,000 visitors that day.
We’ve celebrated with a new look for the website. Would love to know what you think about it!
The new look has given us some limited space for advertising which will help us to cover the costs of running the website. Please do let us know if you’d be interested in taking one of the spaces for your business. You can contact us here (form at bottom of page).
The lifeblood of Dickens Heath dot Net is news, comment and information. We run the website in our spare time and when we’re busy its tough to find the time to search out what’s happening/new in Dickens Heath. If you’re interested in submitting news or events to the website click on the buttons on the bottom left of the website. We’d LOVE to hear from you.
Thank you, everyone, for taking Dickens Heath dot Net to your hearts and helping it to reach its first birthday in style.
