Would you like a Delicatessen & Butchers in Dickens Heath?

April 20, 2013 By DH.net

delicatessenDo you think it would be a good idea to have a new Butcher and Delicatessen in Dickens Heath?

Local meats and produce would be sold along with homemade products.

The Parish Council have been approached by someone who is considering opening one and they would like to know your opinion on this.

You can either post comments below, on Facebook or visit the Parish Council Website.

I think it’s a nice idea in theory but I’m not sure there is sufficient footfall during the week/day to establish a viable business of this nature. Look how many retail businesses that haven’t been able to survive here. If they can offer something a bit special – perhaps organic meat and vegetables which tescos doesnt sell, plus a decent deli – and a decent marketing budget to attract people into the village from surround areas and open outside of 9-5 it might just work.

I think this is a great idea, we need more retail shops in Dickens Heath, which would encourage more footfall for all businesses. Empty shops just make it look uninviting, landlords need to realise the economic reality by keeping rents affordable. More retail shops will make a better shopping experience for customers. It will be great to walk down the road for my dinner ingredients.

I’ve been saying for ages that I’d love a shop like this to open in Dickens Heath. I think its a great idea, and I would definitely use it.
A good bakery is the next thing we need…!

    wonderful idea
This shop would really enhance DH village lifestyle, maybe just open end of week/weekends to ensure viable business. Bakers also yumyum.

I agree with all the positive comments above. What a great idea instead of having to buy Tesco’s pre-packed foods it would be great to know the produce was fresh and locally sourced especially in view of all the recent controversy over what’s in our food. It would also enhance the ideal of what Dickens Heath is supposed to be a self contained semi rural village.
