Terry and Pam Stableford, owners of Coffee Cloud on Main Street in Dickens Heath, have launched a fantastic new range of gluten-free cakes and cupcakes to ensure that customers with food intolerances can also enjoy a fresh tea or coffee together with one of the yummy treats created fresh on the premises by Sue, Coffee Cloud’s talented baker.
Pam said: “We found that there is a gap in the market for those who enjoy a gluten free diet, whether this is because they have coeliac disease or, more common now, a gluten sensitivity. Gluten is a protein which is found in grains such as wheat barley and rye and some oats can be cross contaminated depending on where and how they are grown.
Interestingly a lot of sports people are also turning to a gluten-free diet purely because it has been proven to enhance their performance. Numerous Wimbledon players were reported to be following a gluten-free diet for example.
“At Coffee Cloud we recognise that eating cake in moderation is an uplifting and enjoyable experience, so we felt that we would extend this pleasure to those who are gluten-free. We have come up with a range of cakes that are just as delicious as our regular wheat flour cakes, in fact you wouldn’t notice the difference unless we tell you. The alternative ingredients we use are rice flour, corn flour, polenta and ground almonds.
“We are aiming to always have a gluten-free option on display.”
