Dickens Heath family campaign to boost funding into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

September 24, 2013 By DH.net

Oliver Morgan 2Oliver Harness is nearly 5 years old and attends Dickens Heath School with his older sister Alyssa who is 9.

Last year Oliver’s family received the awful news that their beautiful little boy has the progressive muscle wasting condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – for which there is currently no cure. This condition causes his muscles to waste away and eventually Oliver will be in an electric wheelchair, usually by the age his sister is now.

His family say Oliver is a fun loving and happy little boy, full of personality and brings joy to anyone who meets him – he really is a special boy! They would like to ask Dickens Heath to help put pressure on the Government to increase funding towards finding a cure, simply by signing their e-petition.

Oliver MorganScientists are apparently very close to finding one, but without funding it could miss Oliver’s lifetime – so for the family it really is a race against time.

The e-petition needs 100,000 signatures for Parliament to even look at it.

Currently they are only on around 800. Recently ‘stop the badger cull’ ended on over 304,000 signatures  – so just think what can be done to help children like Olivier!

You can view and sign the petition here.

On behalf of Oliver’s family – thank you for your support.
