This weekend, the vocal talents of a number of Dickens Heath residents – both adults and children – will be on display as Solihull Pop Chorus and Solihull Pop School, both run by Anya Small, join forces for a concert at the Dovehouse Theatre in Solihull where they will be belting out versions of wel- known pop classics from across the decades.
The choirs, which meet at the Parish Rooms in Waterside, will also be joined on stage by 30 singers from sister group Suffolk Pop Chorus, which is run by Anya’s friend Yula – treating the audience at the sold-out event to 90 voices, in harmony, singing the likes of Rollin’ In the Deep and Mr Blue Sky. Most members have never sung publicly before and some have even been brave enough to take on the challenge of a solo performance!
At the final rehearsal this evening – when the Suffolk and Solihull groups rehearsed together for the very first time, Anya said:
” All three choirs have worked tremendously hard preparing for Saturday night’s concert. It’s going to be a great show full of fantastic music and talent! We have certainly had a lot of fun and laughs during rehearsals in the true spirit of Pop Chorus and we are so pleased to be performing to a full house! ”
From September, the choirs will be welcoming new members and there will also be a new choir: Pop Tots for 4-6 year-olds which will run from 11.00-11.40 on Sunday mornings in the Parish Rooms.
