Dickens Heath Parish Council has asked Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to consider increasing the number of parish councillors that sit on the Parish Council.
Over the coming years the number of dwellings and the population of the Parish is likely to increase significantly and this will have an impact on the workload for the Parish Council.
At present, they have 5 Members but have found that the size of the Council means that problems arise with having a quorate meeting if two or three are unable to attend. They hope that increasing the number of Councillors will help with the attendance at meetings.
An election for a Parish Councillor vacancy in 2012 attracted several interested candidates. Additional seats on the Parish Council would allow more residents to be involved in Parish Council matters, and a larger group to be involved in local decision making.
The Borough Council has agreed to carry out a review of Dickens Heath Parish Council and has published a Terms of Reference document in accordance with the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007.
The Terms of Reference Document can be viewed on the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council website http://www.solihull.gov.uk/About-the-Council/Voting/CGR , where you can also fill in an on-line form to send in your views.
