Parish Council receives Schedule of Works from Solihull Council and news of parking restrictions review

January 8, 2015 By DH.net

The Parish Council has received a Schedule Of Works from Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council which sets out a number of issues in Dickens Heath and gives a current position with future intentions on how they will be resolved.

1. Adoption of certain roads by SMBC.

This enables the council to carry out outstanding work on these roads, on the basis that the costs incurred are reimbursed by the liquidator. Start date: 2nd Feb 2015.

The roads are:
• Old Dickens Heath Road
• Old Dickens Heath Road/Rumbush Lane junction(the side of Tesco)
• Section of Rumbush Lane near the Parish rooms

2. Repairs are due to the following roads in the new year:
• Boundary Lane
• Yarn Lane
• Kerr Lane
• Short Street
• Hutchings Lane
• Cornwood Lane
• Clarks Lane
• Ascote Lane

3. Reporting of road/pavement defects

The council have agreed that any reported defects in roads and pavements will be investigated as soon as possible or within 5 working days. Defects which present an immediate danger will be dealt with the same day.

4. Parking restrictions

As you are all aware there has been a restriction on parking in the village. There is a review of these restrictions taking place this month.

5. Barrier-Old Dickens Heath Road.

Agreement has been reached for the barrier to be removed and replaced with wooden planters which will be maintained by the Parish Council. New planters are on order and should be installed soon.

6. Garden Squares

A legal agreement has been signed which means that the abandoned Garden Squares II site may now either be developed or sold on by the development arm of the liquidator.

7. The Islands

The Parish Council have agreed to take over the landscaping and maintenance of three of the traffic islands. The Clock island and the two planted islands either side of the clock island. A maintenance agreement is being drawn up between SMBC and the Parish Council.

8. Litter

If you are interested in the details of where and when SMBC carry out litter picks then please see the main document on the Parish Council website.
