The event kicks off just after 1.30pm with the formal opening by Mayor of Solihull Councillor Glenis Slater.
We’ve arranged four hours of music and performances on the stage with performers from the village taking part in every single one! The line-up is currently as follows:
Dickens Heath School Choir
Songs performed by Key Stage 1 and 2 singing groups, conducted by Mrs Maddock
Dance academy which rehearses in the village hall and school
Heavy metal/rock band featuring local kids. Also playing at the O2 Academy!
Pauline Quirk Dance Academy
Children from the Light Hall School-based performing arts academy singing and dancing
Rock band born at Dickens Heath School and still going strong with lots of familiar faces in the line-up.
Children and adults from the Dickens Heath and Balsall Common-based amateur choir perform some of their huge catalogue of pop classics. Conducted by Anya Small. Get ready to sing along!
|Partners in Crime
It’s Anya’s turn to sing as she fronts the Midlands leading party band, which will finish off the festival with a set packed with classic covers and dancefloor fillers.
It doesn’t end there, the edges of the green will be packed with stalls featuring everything from fundraising activities for Maddie and Oliver’s funds, BBQs, cake stalls, crafts, games and sporting challenges. All being well the fire engine and team from Solihull Fire Station will make an appearance, as will the local police team and there’s even a mini golf course to try your hand at! Bouncy castles, the ice cream van and some very special Disney visitors complete the day.
The event has been organised by a group of volunteers from the village and is supported by Smart Homes, the Village Hall, The Parish Council and Dickens Heath Church. The brilliant posters, flyers and banners have been designed by resident Mark Atkinson who runs a design business in the village.
The main aim is for everyone to come along and have some fun – but if there are any residents who’d like to offer a little help on the day the committee would be grateful even for half an hour of your time. Please email us via email@example.com or comment on the Festival Facebook Page.
See you there!
