The Red Lion names its ‘Top Taster’ in celebration of its reopening

The Red Lion, part of the Vintage Inns collection, located on Lady Lane, recently reopened its doors following a major refurbishment, bringing a beautiful new look to this Earlswood local.

As a thank you to Earlswood for all its support, the landlord of the Red Lion, Adam Cook, held a vote amongst the team to elect a ‘Top Taster’ who would be invited to taste new menu items, help with bar selections and provide honest opinions and recommendations for the pub.

With the final votes cast, Adam Cook has officially named Richard Chadwick as the Admiral Rodney’s official ‘Top Taster’, and is looking forward to showcasing all the pubs’ new and exciting features to him, and working together to discover Richard’s recommendations on behalf of Earlswood and what the village would like to see from the pub in the future.
Richard Chadwick, the Red Lion’s Top Taster says, “I’m honoured to have been chosen by the team at the Red Lion as its Top Taster. I’ve been a regular at the pub for over six years and I can’t wait to try out all of the new dishes, have a look around the brand-new pub with Adam and become part of the Red Lion’s family!”

The pub oozes rural charm and rustic character with the picturesque surroundings providing the perfect backdrop for savouring its new menu, which it hopes will excite guests and encourage them to while away many hours in their cosy surroundings.

Visitors to the Red Lion can enjoy the pub throughout the year, from roaring fires in winter to whiling away the long summer nights in comfort. They can also sample the amazing selection of gins, ales and wines on offer behind the bar and try out some of the freshly prepared British dishes from the new menu, and the Red Lion hopes that the new look is a welcome change in Earlswood.

Adam Cook, landlord of the Red Lion, said: “We wanted the new look to provide guests with a cosy pub where they can enjoy dinner, have a few drinks after a long country walk with their four-legged friends or simply to relax and read the Sunday paper.

“The Red Lion is in a fantastic location on the outskirts of Earlswood, we have an amazing support network around us, so we hope that all of our guests, both regulars and first-timers love the transformation.”

The Red Lion celebrated the reopening with a brand-new menu certain to tickle the taste buds of guests, with new dishes including Black Pearl Scallops seared with black pudding on minted pea puree with crispy bacon to start, British Venison Steak with spinach stuffed portobello mushroom, asparagus, dauphinoise potato & a red wine jus, and a host of mouth-watering puddings including a warming Sticky toffee & apple pudding.

To celebrate its new-look, the Red Lion is holding a ‘Taste of Vintage’ event where guests will be able to sample a selection of the new dishes, chat to Adam and the team, as well as celebrate with a free glass of bubbly. The event will be taking place on XX.

Notes to Editor
The Red Lion is part of the Vintage Inns Group portfolio and closed its doors on 2nd October ready to reopen with a fresh new country pub that oozed rural charm and rustic character.
Originally occupied by a row of old cottages, the site upon which The Red Lion stands dates back to the 1700’s. Before the existence of the police force, the building was used as meeting place for landowners to discuss the activities of thieves and trespassers.

Today the Red Lion offers a meeting place for friends and family to enjoy real ale or its diverse wine selection. If you want to enjoy traditional food with an imaginative twist, in a charming traditional country pub, then look no further than Vintage Inns. Cosy and relaxed but with a contemporary flavour, these rural inns are the perfect place to enjoy a lazy afternoon or linger over Sunday lunch.
All Vintage Inns pubs are Cask Marque accredited to guarantee fantastic ale and with nearly 190 pubs dotted up and down the UK, you are closer to a Vintage Inn then you think.
