Hi all.

Observer – Yes I have reported anti-social behaviour on many occasions to the police. When I reported youths deliberately throwing balls into oncoming traffic (2 weeks ago), the police arrived shortly after the group haved moved on highlighted speaking to the neighbourhood policing team. They advised my details would be passed over to them but I haven’t had any contact from them. I will look at the link mentioned and contact them myself.

DSwordsmith….we used to live in the centre and found parkridge security ineffective most of the time.

Duncan – The problem area is between the library and the square island (that particular section of Old Dickens Heath Rd).

I moved to this part of DH thinking I would be moving to a quieter part of DH. How wrong I was!! Let me give you some examples:-

I called the police as I could see youths attempting to break into a minibus. I watched as the police arrived, had a quiet word with the group and told them to move. They then came to ask me which one was attempting to break into the vehicle. I stated “why on earth would you let them go and then come and ask me. They’ve gone so what exactly are you going to do now?!!” They didn’t like it, gave a pretty poor response and left.

I have reported men trying to break the butterfly sculpture on the square island by bouncing on it island but by the time the police arrive they’ve gone.

Adults and youths riding their motorbikes and scooters on the footpath by the barrier on the square island instead of going the longer way round like any sane person would do!

There is a family on Old Dickens Heath Road who find it acceptable to fight in the street, allow drunk youths to congregate at their house screaming and shouting in the street. This is all done in front of the parents! I have witnessed this far too many times which I why I want to do something about this now. Enough is enough.

I could give you more examples! Unfortunately, the problem also lies with youths coming into DH from other areas too. I was thinking of going to the parish meeting to discuss this.

Other than that, the area is fantastic. Majority of residents in the village are great. Christine, I ask that very same question every week. Its such a nice area and unfortunately there are some who can afford to buy nice houses but have no class whatsoever!
